On Monday night, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees approved an appropriation of $429,637 of undesignated 2011 bond funds for renovations to the Grapevine High School Animal Science Center.
Although the center is located at GHS, district officials said Colleyville Heritage High School students also use the facility.
Those renovations include the following:
• Replacing six roll-up doors
• Replacing deteriorated ceiling and wall insulation
• Demolishing and replacing roof panels and rusted horizontal support structure in the center section of the facility
• Installing new light fixtures to replace rusted non-working fixtures and add additional lights to increase visibility
• Installing new large fans throughout the center pen section
• Painting interior panels and structure in the center section of the facility
• Providing cabling and outlets at the pens
• Replacing chain link fence and gate leading to pasture with pipe rail fence
There was also money approved in the 2016 bond election dedicated to the Animal Science Center to improve basic conditions. The 2016 bond program will provide the following:
• Replacing the metal roof
• Installing backflow on main water line
• Increasing capacity by adding a concrete pad and installing a fire hydrant required by the city; adding over head doors and panels enclosing open areas around over head doors
