The 400,000-square-foot building will initially have 15 gates, according to a news release.
“The new Terminal F will expand the airport’s footprint with state-of-the-art facilities that align with our first-in-class customer experience and operation as we support the historic rise in air travel to and from the North Texas region,” said DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue. “By utilizing modular construction techniques that we first pioneered with the High-C Gates, we will deliver Terminal F using technology at a scale that’s unique among airport development projects.”
The conditions
Terminal F will be located where the Express Parking South, which closed Sept. 9 ahead of construction, according to the airport website.
The construction of the new terminal will the same technique used when Terminal C rebuilt five gates in 2022, Donohue said.
There will be a pre-fabrication site constructed where modular construction techniques will be used to move the pieces across the airfield, according to the news release.
Michael Whelan, president at Archer Western Construction, said the design-build of modular construction will allow for an expedited timeline.
Archer Western Construction is part of Innovation Next+, a joint venture also comprised Turner Construction Company, Phillips May Corporation, H. J. Russell & Company and CARCON Industries. All of those companies are working together on the project, per the news release.

Sorting out the details
Terminal F is the sixth terminal at DFW Airport and is the first new construction of an entire terminal since 2005. The airport will add 24 new gates between Terminal F and the ongoing expansions in Terminals A and C, according to previous reporting.
The anticipated opening for Terminal F is 2027, later than the date previously announced. During a State of the Airport address in October 2023, Donohue said Terminals C and F were slated to be completed by 2026, the same year the Dallas-Fort Worth area will host the World Cup games.
Diving in deeper
Terminal F will not initially have a check-in area when it first opens, according to the news release.
Terminal E will also undergo an expansion to add more than 100,000 square feet to handle check-ins, security and baggage claim for customers flying to or from Terminal F.
According to the news release, the airport will expand the Skylink system above Terminal F and transport passengers from Terminal E to Terminal F.
