Former military personnel could see a 5% increase in their salary as a Collin County detention employee.

This is a result of an approved policy by county commissioners at Feb. 3 meeting which aims to improve Collin County’s recruitment of former military personnel.

The approved policy will pay a new sheriff’s office detention employee 5% above their salary if the applicant applies within a year of military separation under honorable discharge.

The policy is expected to improve recruitment in the detention facility, County Sheriff Jim Skinner said at the meeting.
