Medical City Frisco opened its new cardiac catheterization lab Tuesday, commemorating the traditionally romantic Feb. 14 with a new name: Heart Day.
The cath lab is outfitted with special diagnostic imaging equipment used by cardiologists to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease. Heart procedures in the lab include placing catheters into the heart’s chambers or arteries, a process that is often less invasive than other heart procedures.
The lab will enable emergency crews to bring heart attack patients to the hospital for immediate treatment.
“Giving the Frisco community quick and immediate access to the latest advance technology for treating heart attacks is putting our mission to save lives in motion,” Medical City Frisco CEO Charles Gressle sid in a statement. “Our cath lab will be a powerful community medical resource and will save thousands of lives.”
The first predetermined procedure in the cath lab is scheduled for Thursday.
The cath lab is another addition to Medical City Frisco’s services that have come online since Medical City Healthcare—formerly HCA North Texas—took over the hospital last year.
