Work on Baylor Scott & White’s third Frisco hospital is expected to finish in May 2025.

The $265 million project is located on 37.1 acres at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and PGA Parkway. It’s BS&W’s first major hospital project in Frisco since rebranding the Centennial Medical Center in 2016, which originally opened in 2004.

The new hospital will expand BS&W’s services while also adding to Frisco’s economy, officials said.

“The presence of this state-of-the-art medical center makes North Texas more appealing to business, talent and investors, further stimulating the regional economy and driving more development to the northern corridor of Frisco,” said Gloria Salinas, Frisco Economic Development Corporation’s vice president, in an emailed statement.

The big picture

The new hospital will offer inpatient, specialty and emergency services, said Matthew Olivolo, a media spokesperson for BS&W.

“The new Baylor Scott & White campus ... will be critical to the health care infrastructure needed to support the area’s anticipated population,” he said in an email.

Inpatient discharges in Frisco are expected to grow nearly 18% by 2030, according to BS&W’s Community Health Needs Assessment published in 2022.

Collin County meets the state and national benchmarks for the ratio of patients to primary care physicians, according to BS&W data. However, the county’s population could nearly double by 2060.

Denton County does not meet either benchmark and is also projected to double in population by 2060, according to BS&W data. Frisco, which is in both counties, is estimated to reach a population of about 325,000 at buildout sometime after 2030.

The framework

Health care systems are the largest employers in many communities, said Stephen Love, president and CEO of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council, in an emailed statement.

Hospitals, including BS&W, generated nearly $38.4 billion for the North Texas economy in 2022, according to a report released by the council.

“In addition to skilled job creation, Baylor Scott & White Health’s medical center provides access to quality health care that is crucial for companies and employers considering relocation,” Salinas said in an emailed statement.

The hospital’s location, near Universal Kids Resort, will benefit Frisco’s residents and those living north of US 380, Mayor Jeff Cheney said.

“[Baylor is] really leaning into this community not just with providing great quality health care that’s going to serve generations but also research and innovation,” he said. “They look forward to continuing to grow that campus to be an integral part of our health care community.”

Diving deeper

The new development includes a hospital, a central utility plant, a medical office building and a parking garage, according to a 2023 site plan.

Here is a brief look at what the development will include:
  • 8-story hospital
  • 6-story medical building
  • 110 beds
  • Up to 288 employees

Development is slated for one land parcel on the site. Nearly 10.3 acres bordering Dallas Parkway will be available for future development.
