The designation, determined by the Texas Department of State Health Services, is the second-highest designation signifying the level of care in a NICU. The hospital is also the only in Frisco to receive this designation, according to the news release.
“We are enormously proud to be the only Level III NICU in Frisco,” Medical City Frisco CEO Patrick Rohan said in the release. “Our facility’s newest designation is just one example of why Medical City Frisco is the destination of choice for families seeking exceptional clinical quality and a higher level of newborn care.”
The designation process is required by state law and comes after a “rigorous evaluation” to determine compliance with standards set by the American Academy of Pediatrics, according to the release. The facility also has a Level III trauma center.
Medical City Frisco’s Level III NICU has six beds to serve critically ill and premature infants along with a negative pressure isolation room for treatment and a family bonding room. Medical City Frisco also recently opened its new $91 million patient tower.
