Frisco will have new rules regarding landscape requirements going forward.

Frisco City Council members unanimously approved multiple amendments to the city’s landscape requirement ordinance during a March 19 meeting.

Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission members recommended council approve the updates during a Feb. 27 meeting.

Frisco’s development services department staff members discovered some provisions were in need of an update during a formal review, according to meeting documents. The formal review is one piece of the department's five-year strategic plan for 2023-27.


Changes include fixing grammar, inconsistencies, inaccuracies; removing or introducing new requirements; and providing clarity.

“I think this is a long time coming in the background,” council member John Keating said.

Here are some examples of the changes, according to meeting documents:
  • Adding references to some graphics
  • Removing confusing graphics
  • Reformatting existing information
  • Including simplified definitions
