Scott Grigg, Darrell Hale and Sammy Knapp remain ahead in Collin County races in the Nov. 5 election with 75 of 117 vote centers reporting.

Grigg is currently leading over Stephanie Cooksey in the Collin County assessor-collector race. Grigg has 59.49% of the vote.

Hale currently has 61.66% of the vote over challenger Yvette Johnson in the Collin County commissioner, Precinct 3 race. Knapp holds 55.26% of the votes over challenger Cesar Avila in the Collin County constable, Precinct 3 race.

With 28 vote centers reporting, Scott Grigg is maintaining a lead over Stephanie Cooksey in the Collin County tax assessor collector race, while incumbents Darrell Hale and Sammy Knapp are holding leads in the Collin County commissioner, Precinct 3, and Collin County constable, Precinct 3, races.

Grigg currently has 252,596 votes to Cooksey's 170,448.

Hale has 66,459 votes to challenger Yvette Johnson's 40,795.

Knapp currently has 79,285 votes while challenger Cesar Avila has 63,938.

Early voting results are in for Collin County tax assessor collector; Collin County commissioner, Precinct 3; and Collin County constable, Precinct 3, races on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Scott Grigg is leading Stephanie Cooksey in the vote for Collin County tax assessor collector with 59.59% of the vote, according to unofficial voting totals.


In the race for Collin County commissioner, Precinct 3, incumbent Darrell Hale is leading Yvette Johnson with 61.93% of the vote.

Incumbent Sammy Knapp is leading in the race for Collin County constable, Precinct 3, over Cesar Avila. Knapp holds 55.41% of the vote to Avila’s 44.59%, early voting totals show.

The background

Grigg beat Angela Powell and Cam McCall in the Collin County tax assessor collector Republican primary in May, while Cooksey ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Collin County’s current tax assessor collector, Kenneth Maun, has filled that office since 1985 and opted not to run for re-election in 2024.


Hale has served as Collin County commissioner for Precinct 3 since November 2018, when he was elected following the unexpired term of Chris Hill, who had been elected county judge. Knapp has served as Precinct 3 constable since 2012.
