Freezing temperatures are hitting the Dallas-Fort Worth area as Frisco ISD students return from winter break—creating the chance for possible closures or delays.

What you need to know

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch starting Jan. 8 through Jan. 10 with chances of slow and sleet. Snow is most likely to fall on Jan. 9, according to the service.

Frisco ISD parents and staff will be notified through the district’s email and text message system in the event of a school closure or delay. Parents can ensure they are subscribed to the text message system by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.

Information about closures will also be made on social media and the district's website, said an FISD spokesperson. Decisions about inclement weather will be communicated by 5:30 a.m. on the day that is impacted.
