Frisco ISD’s board of trustees approved the district calendar for the 2022-23 school year at its Dec. 13 meeting.

School is starting earlier in August and ending earlier in the spring. The first day of school is set to be Aug. 10, and the last day of class will be on May 19.

In previous years, the district started the school year on Thursdays, but chose to start next year on a Wednesday. This will allow students to begin winter break on Friday, Dec. 23, giving families time to travel prior to Christmas Eve, Deputy Superintendent Todd Fouche said.

Students have a scheduled fall break between Oct. 7-10, with Oct. 7 being a staff development day and Oct. 10 serving as a school holiday.

Thanksgiving break will still be a week long, and the winter break will still be two weeks long, from Dec. 23 to Jan. 9. Spring break is scheduled for March 13-17, and staff development days are scheduled for Aug. 1-4, Aug. 8-9, Sept. 2, Nov. 21, Jan. 9, Feb. 17 and May 20.

Other student holidays include Labor Day on Sept. 5, Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 16, and Good Friday on April 7.

Start and end times for each learning level remain the same. Elementary school days will be from 7:45 a.m.-3:05 p.m. Middle school schedules run from 8:25 a.m.-3:45 p.m. and high school from 9-4:25 p.m.
