Design for Frisco ISD’s proposed 12th high school will center around flexibility, interaction, central commons, internal and external connection and outdoor learning, according to a presentation by Corgan, the architecture and design firm for the school, at a Frisco ISD board workshop Nov. 1.

FISD board members got a first look at the design for the district's 12th high school, which is slated to open in 2022.

The high school will be located near Teel and Rockhill parkways, adjacent to the northwest end of the forthcoming Professional Golfers’ Association of America headquarters.

As a response to “repeated” student feedback, the school will be three floors tall to minimize travel time from each end of the school building, FISD Superintendent Mike Waldrip said at the meeting.

“Students that are from buildings that are more compact are the ones that talk about how much they like a building in terms of how to get around,” Waldrip said at the meeting.

The school will span 560 feet horizontally, according to the presentation.

Additional features for the high school include an open concept library on the third floor and a central commons on the first floor, per the presentation.
