Bryan Dodson has resigned from the Place 1 seat on the Frisco ISD board of trustees.

The board accepted his resignation at a March 22 meeting.

"I recently was part of a business transaction where I obtained a minority interest in a company that has historically done business with the district," Dodson said.  "Out of extreme love for this school district and community, I wanted to avoid any appearance of conflict. So, now is the appropriate time to step away."

Dodson announced Jan. 12 that he would not run for re-election after serving on the board for six years. Dodson was first elected to the board in 2013.

In his letter to the board announcing his resignation, Dodson said the board should be proud of what it has accomplished in FISD.

"I will leave this position in the same spirit that I came to want to serve, which is simply to be the best dad that I can be," Dodson said in his letter. "Now it's time to refocus on my faith, family and give my personal obligations their full attention."

Board President John Classe said he and the board are thankful for Dodson's service.

"We are thankful to Bryan, his wife Shaye and their family for his six years of service to the Frisco ISD community," Classe said. "He will be missed."

The Place 1 seat, along with Places 2 and 3, is up for election on May 4.
