The first day to file for the May 4 municipal and school board elections is Jan. 16. The filing deadline is Feb. 15. There will be several positions up for election in Frisco and Frisco ISD. For Frisco City Council, two seats—Place 2 and Place 4—are up for election. Those interested in running for a place on city council can download a candidate packet through the city’s website. Packet includes information on how to run, eligibility requirements and forms required to be submitted as well as important deadlines. For FISD, three seats are up for election: Places 1, 2 and 3. Trustee Bryan Dodson, who holds the Place 1 seat, announced Jan. 12 that he would not run for re-election after serving on the board for six years. “When thinking about running back in 2012, one of the main reasons was, I just wanted to be a good dad and have some impact on my newborn baby daughter’s life,” Dodson said in a statement. “It’s that same reason of wanting to be the best dad I can be that I need to step away.” FISD board of trustees application packets can be picked up at the front desk of the FISD administration building, 5510 Ohio Drive, during normal business house between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
