On Oct. 7, Frisco City Council unanimously approved a contract with Crossland Construction for the first phase of construction of Grand Park, which will span more than 1,000 acres when completed.
The details
The first phase of construction will include 68 acres of key infrastructure, lake and trail development, ecological enhancements, and public amenities such as pavilions, playgrounds and ponds.
Phase 1 of the project is set to cost $35 million, according to city documents.
Council approved an initial $1.1 million agreement with Crossland for preconstruction and site cleanup services at the Oct. 7 meeting, according to city documents.
What else?
When complete, the park will have a community hub that includes five districts: Civic Park, Adventure Play, Sports Park, Botanic Gardens and Nature Area, and Nature Center.
Each one will have its own amenities.
Civic Park will have an amphitheater lawn, splash pads and climbing structure, while Sports Park will have space for sports fields and courts, a pond and dog park, for example.
What’s next?
The first phase of the park is still under design, according to the city’s website. This could be completed in early 2026, according to the city’s website.
Construction of Phase 1 is projected to start and be completed in 2027.
