Health officials in Collin and Denton counties reported 44 new cases of COVID-19 in Frisco over the last week.

That total includes the 22 coronavirus cases reported by Collin County on June 9 for the month up to that point. That was the first day Collin County Health Care Services reported any new coronavirus case information on its COVID-19 dashboard since the Texas Department of State Health Services took over case investigation and contact tracing June 1.

Frisco has had 52 new coronavirus cases reported in June, though the Texas Department of State Health Services identified two previous cases as a duplicate and one for another jurisdiction. The new cases brought the city’s total to 227 confirmed cases, though 162 Frisco residents have been reported as recovered. Of the total confirmed cases in Frisco, 140 are from Collin County and 87 are from Denton County.

Data released by the city shows the number of active cases of COVID-19 as of June 14 was 63. That is 15 active cases more than the 48 Frisco had on June 7. The most active cases Frisco had on any one day in May was 44.

Health officials confirmed a total of 236 new COVID-19 cases in Denton County since June 7. That brought the county’s total confirmed cases to 1,736.


Denton County Public Health also confirmed the deaths of three patients as a result of COVID-19 over the last week.

As of June 14, Denton County had 758 active cases of coronavirus. That is more than double the 375 active cases it had on May 1.

The county has had 942 residents diagnosed with the virus who have since recovered and 36 who have died, health officials said as of June 14.

Officials said Denton County was at 59.9% of its total hospital capacity as of June 14 with 653 beds occupied with coronavirus and non-coronavirus patients and 437 available. The county ICU is 44.6% occupied, officials said, as 66 beds are full and 82 are available. However, just 20.8% of the county’s available ventilators are in use, with 84 available.


Collin County health officials confirmed 220 new cases of coronavirus since Texas Health and Human Services reported Collin County had a total of 1,447 COVID-19 cases on June 7.

The new cases brought the county’s total cases to 1,667, though only 338 cases remained active as of June 14. That is a more than 44% increase in active cases since May 1, when Collin County had 234.

Of the total confirmed cases in Collin County, 1,292 residents have recovered from the virus, and 37 have died. There were four residents hospitalized with coronavirus as of June 14, officials said.

The new cases in Collin and Denton counties were reported through Frisco's Public Health Awareness dashboard, which provides a graphical representation of coronavirus data for the city. The digital tool also serves as a gateway to dashboards provided by Collin and Denton counties as well as one from Texas Health and Human Services.
