During Tuesday's meeting, Frisco City Council approved increasing the city's water rates by about 2 percent as well as increasing the minimum water bill from $17.69 to $18.04 for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

The rate increase comes after the North Texas Municipal Water District board of director approved increasing its rates for member cities by $0.14 for this fiscal year. City officials said the water district's rate increase played into the city increasing its rates.

The volume charge per 1,000 gallons of water used will increase between $0.08 and $0.13 depending on how much water a residential property uses. Commercial and irrigation rates are being adjusted in a like manner, according to the city.

The residential solid waste collection rates are also increasing, including the monthly collection rates from $12.50 to $13.50.

The city's sewer rates are not increasing.
