Frisco resident Damon Vinci has filed for the Frisco City Council Place 1 seat. The Place 1 seat has an unexpired term that is up for election again in May 2018.
Vinci has lived in Frisco for more than 10 years and said he would like to be a part of the city’s continued success.
“I think we’re doing a really good job, and I want to continue on with that success and get behind the scenes and see what we can do on continuing to make the city grow efficiently,” he said.
Vinci works in information security, and capitalizing on technology is one area he said he wants to focus on if elected to council. He said he would like to explore implementing citywide Wi-Fi.
“I think our networking technology infrastructure needs to be top-notch and leading-edge,” Vinci said. “We need to look at things to attract businesses and people.”
Vinci said he is also concerned about traffic in the city, saying the issue will continue to grow with the population. He said new road infrastructure and other forms of transportation are things the city should continue prioritizing.
Vinci said he would also like to keep the tax rate low and handle spending from the city’s budget wisely.
He and his wife run Be the Tree, a nonprofit organization that provides gift cards for families in need so they can but the necessities and presents for the holiday season.
John Keating, Dan Stricklin, Hal Thomas, Brandon Burden, Rui Zhang, Stanley Wang, Stacy Plummer and Khurram Warach have also filed for Place 1. The election will take place Feb. 18.
Filing for Place 1 ends Dec. 19. Click here for more information about filing for City Council.
