Construction could soon be underway on Dale Earnhardt Way in Northlake. The project is intended to widen the road from two to four lanes to make it more drivable and expand access to nearby commercial developments.

The details

The project will cost about $1 million and be paid for by a mix of road assessment fees and 2023 certificates of obligation, according to town documents. Construction is expected to begin in January and be complete in September.

Over the next 10 years after the road is complete in 2025, the town is expecting to pay about $78,741 to maintain the widened portion of Dale Earnhardt Way, per town documents.

What they’re saying

Eric J. Tamayo, the town’s public works director, said at a Dec. 12 Town Council meeting that the department recently met with the engineer and contractor for the project.

“They’re biting at the bit to get going on that,” Tamayo said.
