As part of its consent agenda for the March 3 meeting, Flower Mound Town Council unanimously approved contracts to purchase several vehicles. The total value of the contracts is just over $1.15 million.
The town’s animal services division will get two new 2023 Ford F-350s at a cost of about $151,000. The police department will get eight new 2025 Ford police pursuit vehicles costing $562,000. Two will be supervisor units and the rest will be patrol units. The town will also pay for an over $93,000 2025 Chevy Tahoe pursuit vehicle and to upfit three Ford pursuit vehicles for about $106,000.
The town’s public works department will get two new dump trucks for about $240,000.
What else?
Town officials cancelled the May 3 council election as both races are unopposed. Both Adam Schiestel and Brian Taylor, who were up for re-election, will serve another three-year term. Voters will still head to the polls May 3 to cast ballots on the proposed $112 million bond.
Council members also approved a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for law enforcement services at Lake Grapevine. The two entities reached an agreement for law enforcement services in the area for the year 2025. The agreement will allow off-duty Flower Mound police officers to provide police services for Murrell Park and Knob Hill Trail Head at Lake Grapevine on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, according to town documents.
The Army Corps of Engineers will reimburse the Flower Mound Police Department $50,408 for their services as part of the contract. The contract will cover the period between May 16 and Sept. 7.
