Phase 2 of the Rippy Road project has begun in Flower Mound, officials announced.

The project focuses on the portion Rippy Road between Long Prairie Road/FM 2499 to Pecan Meadows. Asphalt will be turned to concrete; new curbs and gutters will be placed; improvements will be made to overall drainage; and there will be a new water line installed.

Residents with property immediately adjacent to any construction will be notified by door hangers of upcoming discussion meetings.

Assistant Town Secretary Brian Waltenburg said, while traffic will be impacted by construction, the town is partnering with contractors to work on the road one segment at as a time to avoid shutting down the entire road.

"Traffic will only be one way in those areas and generally [only] northbound," Waltenburg said. "Detours will be set up, too. If contractors can see a way to do it that will affect [fewer] people, we’ll discuss it."

Rippy Road serves three neighborhoods, Waltenburg said, and each household has been notified of the upcoming project.

"We'll try to minimize the impact as much as possible," he said.
