Argyle Town Council approved Kimley-Horn, an engineering planning and design firm, to aid with street maintenance projects, starting with road repairs this summer.
Argyle Council approved a contract not to exceed $285,000 for services through Sept. 30, 2029, at the March 23 meeting.

Town officials intend to establish an annual street maintenance cycle to plan and implement roadway repairs, according to town documents.
“We want to make sure that we're doing a systematic way of looking at our streets every year,” Town Manager Mike Sims said. “We want to do a process where every year we're building and getting better.”
The town will use street maintenance sales tax to fund the projects, which generates over $1 million a year, Sims said.
Kimley-Horn will complete several task orders during the scope of their contract term, including:
Diving deeper
During the summer, Kimley-Horn will assist with repairing high-priority roads, said Colton Hermes, professional engineer of pavement management at Kimley-Horn.
“The goal of that is to really hit on the pressing needs of right now,” he said. “Rather than waiting for [a pavement study to] fully be developed and have streets continue to deteriorate in the meantime, we're going to get out there immediately.”
This task may include improvements to Hickory Hill, Old Justin, Harpole and Frenchtown roads, Hermes said.
“After we identify what the need actually is, we'll help implement it,” he said.
Kimley-Horn officials will prepare documentation, help advertise for construction and oversee the construction process, Hermes said.

The pavement assessment will involve Kimley-Horn officials driving Argyle roadways with high-tech vans that can scan the road for cracks and imperfections, Hermes said. This data will be used for the next three years before the roads need to be scanned again, he said.
Once the scan is complete, Kimley-Horn officials will make recommendations on how to improve the roads, Hermes said.
“We'll package [the road improvements] into projects that are within the town's budget for each annual year for the [street] maintenance program that year,” he said. “We’ll partner with the town to prioritize projects.”
