Collin College’s proposed bond package could fund several expansion projects, including two new campuses.
Collin County voters will be able to decide on the school's $600 million bond package in November after Collin College's Board of Trustees called a bond election during its Aug. 7 meeting.
“The Board of Trustees has always believed in planning for the future while honoring the commitments we’ve made to our community,” board Chair Jay Saad said in a news release.
What you need to know
Approval of the bond package would authorize $600 million in funding for expansion projects that include two new campuses in Anna and Royse City, along with a new Aviation Academy in McKinney.
Additional workforce and academic expansions would be set for Collin College’s Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Wylie campuses, along with the Technical Campus in Allen.
Officials do not anticipate an increase in the tax rate if voters approve the bond, the news release states.
Looking ahead
The release states that the upcoming bond would be the next step in Collin College’s Destination 2030 plan, a seven-year master plan implemented in 2023 with the aim to expand capacity and address growing workforce needs.
The last day to register to vote in the November election is Oct. 5. Early voting runs from Oct. 19-30 and Election Day is Nov. 3.
