An opening date for Canyon Falls Park has not yet been determined, but it's expected to be in May, town officials said in a news release. The park's opening comes after town officials encountered performance issues with the original contractor, which significantly delayed the project, according to the news release. Town officials worked with multiple new contractors to finish the park as quickly as possible.
A failure to meet contract requirements prompted the Flower Mound Town Council in June 2023 to terminate an agreement with MSB Constructors Inc. for the park construction. The company was awarded the project in November 2020.
The 10.5-acre park will feature a shaded splash pad, a nature-themed playground, a full-sized basketball court, fitness equipment, trails, a reservable pavilion, parking and restrooms. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place June 8 from 10 a.m.-noon.
