The impact
Roughly 51% of employees are enrolled in the district’s insurance plan, Chief Financial Officer Liz Stewart said.
The district currently provides a $300 monthly contribution for each employee enrolled in a TRS insurance plan, per district documents. Depending on the selected plan, monthly premium increases will range from $49 to $191.
The district’s increased contribution is meant to offset these increasing costs, according to district documents.

The additional $50 a month will cost the district $240,000 annually.
“That’s well within our budget that we were talking about at our last workshop where we were discussing some potential surpluses,” Stewart said.
The adjustment brings AISD’s monthly contribution to $350 per employee.
