Lewisville ISD’s Clayton Downing Middle School will undergo more than $26 million in renovations starting next year. The district has initiated a 20-year life cycle maintenance and repair project for the school.

The project will begin in May 2025 and is expected to be complete by August 2026, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. It is being paid for with district bond dollars that were approved in 2023.

A district spokesperson said by email that projects like this are taken on based on needs identified by the LISD Facilities Assessment Study, input from individual departments and the Facilities Review Committee.

"When a building’s major components have reached the end of their 20-year life cycle, that facility is then slated for a complete 20-year life cycle maintenance and repair,” the spokesperson said.

These projects typically include replacement and repairs to things such as HVAC systems, restrooms, flooring, generators and other items.
