Brentfield Elementary School in Richardson ISD has raised more money for the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge than any other school in Texas, according to an association spokesperson.
Each year, thousands of schools nationwide participate in the association's Kids Heart Challenge, a campaign that raises money through cardio-intensive physical activities, such as jump rope.
So far, students at Brentfield have raised $91,000. An AHA spokesperson attributes the school's success to the leadership of physical education teacher Ashley Pondrom.
The association will have finalized fundraising results in June but said Brentfield's place among the top three fundraisers nationwide has already been secured.
