The Shops at Willow Bend will add a luxury health and fitness tenant, part of the property's efforts to increase foot traffic throughout the shopping mall, the company announced Tuesday.

Amy Medford, marketing director for the Willow Bend property owned by Starwood Retail Partners, confirmed Equinox Fitness will be the tenant the mall plans to install on the mall's southern side near Crate & Barrel. Crews will construct a new building to house the fitness club.

The 35,000-square-foot fitness club is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018.

“Equinox is a natural addition to Willow Bend’s expanding mix of lifestyle, retail, restaurant, office and entertainment options,” the mall's General Manager Barry Smith said in a statement Tuesday.

The Willow Bend mall, located northwest of where Park Boulevard meets the Dallas North Tollway, had identified a health and fitness center as one of its main targets as the Plano shopping mall poured $125 million into an ongoing redevelopment project to diversify its tenant base.
