Development updates

1. The newest addition to Class A office park Granite Park was completed in September. Building V features 12 stories of office space and is home to Heartland Payment Systems and Mitel Communications.

2. City officials and staff held a grand opening in early October for Oak Point Nature and Retreat Center at 5901 Los Rios Blvd. The $5.5 million project overlooks Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve and features meeting space for corporate retreats.

3. Aligned Data Centers held a ribbon-cutting event and tours Nov. 19 for its new data center complex at 2800 Summit Ave. The $300 million complex is the first of its kind in the country, providing consumption-based pricing for on-demand data center capacity.

4. West Plano Village was completed in December. Located at Parker Road and the Dallas North Tollway, the mixed-use development features seven restaurants, 90,000 square feet of retail and 60,000 square feet of second-floor office space.

5. Demolition of Municipal Center South is expected to begin in February, with construction beginning by July. Located at the northwest corner of K Avenue and 14th Street, the redevelopment is projected to include an underground parking garage.

6. Regent Properties will break ground on a $100 million development at Legacy Drive and US 75 in May. The company acquired the property from Texas Instruments, and the project will feature restaurants, retail, a hotel and mid-rise office buildings.

7. Mixed-use development Rasor Pointe is expected to be complete in August. The project by Yeager Properties is located at the northeast corner of Rasor Boulevard and Ohio Drive. The company will begin leasing for office space in late March.

8. Palladium USA International will begin construction on a 30-story luxury high-rise at Legacy West in mid-2016. The building will be the tallest structure in Collin County. Palladium contracted to purchase the 2.1-acre property in October.

9. Construction on Toyota Motor North America’s new headquarters at Legacy West is underway and is expected to be complete in March 2017. The 2.1-million-square-foot campus will be home to approximately 4,000 employees.

10. Capital One Financial Services’ seventh building is expected to be complete in early 2017. The four-story building will be located at the north end of company’s campus at Dominion Parkway and will accommodate 1,000 to 1,200 new employees.

11. Roughly 4,000 employees for Liberty Mutual Insurance will start moving into their new headquarters at Legacy West in December 2017. The $325 million expansion project will also bring 1,000 construction jobs to the area.

12. Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is expected to open at 7601 Preston Road by June 2017. The center will be the first of its kind in the region and will offer physical therapy and other pediatric services.
