A New Mexico company, High Flying Hangars, plans to invest over $20 million to bring 44 aircraft hangars to Denton Enterprise Airport in 2026, according to a news release.

Denton City Council approved a 40-year lease with Hangar Club LLC for 7.91 acres at the airport in June. The hangar space will total at least 110,000 square feet, according to town documents.

“The High Flying Hangars development will bring a much-needed resource to our aviation community and support the growth of the Denton economy,” Mayor Gerard Hudspeth said in the news release.

The details

According to the development’s website, the proposed aircraft hangars are available in three amounts of interior space: 1,245 square feet, 2,000 square feet and 3,600 square feet. Hangars will also include connections for electricity, water and sewer in addition to other amenities to meet a client’s needs, per the news release.

“We’re committed to serving the rapidly growing needs of aircraft owners,” High Flying Hangars CEO Kenny Hinkes said in the news release. “We understand what they desire most in a private hangar, as longtime aviators and developers.”

The hangars, intended for a variety of general aviation and business aviation aircraft, are available for purchase.

Diving deeper

Denton Enterprise Airport currently has 27 hangars and a waitlist of 100 individuals for hangar space, according to airport data. The addition of 44 hangars would be a 162.96% increase to a total of 71 hangars at the airport.

As of September, the airport’s 27 hangars are 100% occupied, per airport data.

Denton Enterprise Airport was also the third busiest airport in North Texas, and fifth busiest statewide, in terms of takeoffs and landings, with 218,184 in 2024, based on information from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Looking ahead

High Flying Hangars plans to break ground on the development by the end of the year. Hangars could be accessible to owners in 2026, per the news release.
