The city of Plano released Jan. 12 the list of its facilities that will remain closed on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday on Monday, Jan. 18. These facilities include:
- Plano Animal Shelter, 4028 W. Plano Parkway
- Day Labor Center (closed Jan. 16 and 18), 805 Ozark Drive
- Environmental Education Center, 4116 W Plano Parkway
- Household Chemical Reuse Center (closed Jan. 16 and 18), 4110 W. Plano Parkway
- Interurban Railway Museum, 901 E. 15th St.
- Oak Point Nature and Retreat Center, 5901 Los Rios Blvd.
- Plano Senior Recreation Center, 401 W. 16th St.
- Texas Pure Products Regional Composting Site and Custer Road Facility, 9901 Custer Road
Plano's municipal offices will also remain closed Jan. 18.
Libraries that will be closed between Jan. 17-18 include:
- Maribelle Davis Library, 7501 Independence Parkway, Ste. B
- Haggard Library, 2501 Coit Road
- Harrington Library, 1501 18th St.

- Schimelpfenig Library, 5024 Custer Road
Trash collection schedule will also be impacted by the holiday. All trash pick-up will be postponed by one day. There will be no trash collection on Monday, Jan. 18.
Places that will remain open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day include:
- High Point Tennis Center, 421 W. Spring Creek Parkway
- North Texas Municipal Water District Transfer Station and 121 Regional Disposal Facility, 4120 W. Plano Parkway
- Pecan Hollow Golf Course, 4901 14th St.
- Plano Aquatic Center, 2301 Westside Drive
Recreation centers that will remain open Jan. 18 from 5 a.m.-10 p.m. include:
- Oak Point Recreation Center, 6000 Jupiter Road
- Liberty Recreation Center, 2601 Glencliff Drive
- Carpenter Park Recreation Center, 6701 Coit Road
- Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, 5801 W. Parker Road
