Six out of the 17 presidential candidates have confirmed and accepted an invitation to participate in a forum from 3- 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd.
About 7,000 people have registered for the event, said Jack Graham, pastor for Prestonwood Baptist Church. People can watch a live-stream of the forum at
www.prestonwood.org. The church partnered with the Faith and Freedom Coalition to organize the forum, Graham said.
“Many people are under the false impression that Christians only care about the sanctity of life and traditional marriage,” Graham said via email. “There are many issues that are of great importance to us, including issues such as racial reconciliation, the national debt, Israel and the Middle East, wealth and poverty, religious liberty and so much more. And we want to hear from all the candidates about how faith impacts their life and the decisions they make.”
Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, former Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Ted Cruz, former Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Sen. Rick Santorum will be participating in the forum, which will be moderated by Graham.
“We have invited candidates on both sides of the political aisle,” Graham said. “We want to get a good representation of those who are seeking to lead our great country.”
Each candidate will get 10 minutes to make opening remarks, after which Graham said he will be ask questions and moderate the forum.
Invited speakers included Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Rick Santorum, Dr. Ben Carson, Gov. John Kasich, Donald Trump, Gov. Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Sen. Rand Paul, Gov. Jeb Bush, Gov. Bobby Jindal, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. George Pataki, Gov. Martin O’Malley, Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
