Curbside clothing recycling begins


The city of Plano has partnered with Simple Recycling to provide free curbside clothing pick up. The weekly collection begins Oct. 24 and is available to single-family, residential water utility customers. Those eligible to participate should have received a green collection bag in the mail from Simple Recycling. Fill the green bag with unwanted clothing and place it on the front curb on your regular recycling day. 866-835-5068. www.simplerecycling.com

The family-friendly, safe Halloween event includes inflatables, carnival games and candy. Guests can wear costumes and attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item to donate to a local food pantry. The event runs Oct. 27 from 5-8 p.m. Free (with canned food donation). The Compassion Experience


Compassion International is bringing its compassion tour to Plano. This five-day event running from Oct. 26-30 will be held in the parking lot of One Community Church, 2400 SH121, Plano. Visitors will be educated about life in poverty at this free, family-friendly event.
