Brett Ligon to lead Texas Senate District 4 through 2026, unofficial results show

Republican candidate Brett Ligon will be taking the vacant Texas Senate District 4 seat, as unofficial results show him with 75% of the votes, over opposing Democratic candidate Ron Angeletti.

• Ligon (R): 26,068 votes, or 75.06%
• Angeletti (D): 8,662 votes, or 24.94%

Former state Sen. Brandon Creighton chose to not run for re-election and gave up the remainder of his term to lead the Texas Tech University System. Ligon will take over for the remainder of his term, which will end January 2027, and voters will decide once again who will serve District 4 for the next four years.

As polls closed in the May 2 special election, Ron Angeletti (D) and Brett Ligon (R) are up for a vacant Texas Senate District 4 seat. Former state Sen. Brandon Creighton chose to vacate the seat after being named chancellor and CEO of the Texas Tech University System.

What's happening

According to unofficial voting results, Ligon leads the race with 19,078 votes—or 76%—while Angeletti has 6,182, or 24%.
