Brian Knowles, owner of Terrible Love Coffee in Hyde Park, is expanding the Terrible Love brand to include a neighborhood wine bar.
The bar will feature ethically and sustainably sourced wines, light bites and a space for neighbors to meet one another, according to Knowles.
Looking for a libation?
Knowles hopes to open Terrible Love Wine in early August, pouring a combination of classic and natural wines, with options sourced locally and afar. The space will also feature vermouth-based drinks, as well as low-alcohol or non-alcoholic cocktails.
On the menu
Terrible Love Wine will host a small kitchen serving up light bites all day, including a limited breakfast menu. In the morning, the wine bar will invite guests from Terrible Coffee to enjoy their morning drinks in the wine bar’s space.
Who it’s for
The wine bar is crafted to be a spot for locals to engage with the community, hang out, meet new neighbors and connect with each other, Knowles explained.
The space will also feature a hifi stereo system and occasionally host DJs, fitting as the wine bar’s building served as Baker School’s music room before the building was converted into a business park.
One more thing
The wine bar will not allow children or laptops in the space after 5 p.m., Knowles said, and guests are encouraged to not be on their phones or devices in the evening. He hopes people will foster community, connection and live in the moment.
