PREVIEW: Bryan ISD to consider new 5-year improvement plan

Bryan ISD trustees will consider a new district-wide improvement plan for the 2026-27 school year on Sept. 28, outlining four long-term goals focused on student achievement, college and career readiness, instructional coaching and teacher retention.

The plan would guide district improvement efforts through 2031.

Mapping it out

According to agenda material, the district aims to increase “Meets Grade Level” performance in math, reading, science and social studies by 10 percentage points by 2031. It also wants to increase the percentage of graduates meeting at least one “College, Career or Military Readiness” indicator by 10 percentage points.

The plan says 50% of students performed at Meets Grade Level or above across all grades and subjects during the 2024-25 school year, while about 82% of graduates were identified as college, career or military ready.

The plan also calls for all campuses to implement a coaching and accountability framework and increase teacher retention by at least 8 percentage points by 2031.

The local impact

The Texas A&M University Board of Regents also recently adopted a five-year plan, with student success as a key goal.

Meanwhile, College Station ISD outlined its five-year goals in July.

Also on the agenda

Additionally, trustees will consider schematic designs for Bryan Collegiate High School and the Merrill Green field house, as well as employee medical and dental plan changes for 2027.

The board also will receive an update on athletic turf and consider campus improvement plans for the 2026-27 school year.
