The Austin Corridor Program Office is hosting an open house May 4 to teach community members about proposed improvements for Slaughter Lane and William Cannon Drive. The event will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Palm Elementary School, 7601 Dixie Drive, Austin.

According to a news release by the corridor program office, the “open house fiesta” will include free food, music and activities for children. City staff will be present to take public feedback about the projects, answer questions and offer information about the projects.

The South Austin corridors are two of nine corridors in the city that will receive improvements funded through the 2016 mobility bond. Work on the corridors is expected to take place through 2024.

Proposed improvements will add new traffic lights and medians and improve pedestrian accommodations through the corridor by adding pedestrian crossing signals, sidewalks and bike lanes.
