The Dripping Springs ISD board of trustees voted unanimously Nov. 21 to approve Todd Washburn as the district’s new superintendent. Washburn, who, up until the vote, had served as associate superintendent of curriculum, instruction and assessment at Eanes ISD, was named the lone finalist by the board Oct. 30. The board was required to wait until the 21-day state-mandated had elapsed before officially hiring Washburn.

“I am honored and humbled to be selected to serve as the next superintendent of Dripping Springs ISD,” said Washburn through a statement by DSISD. “I look forward to building relationships with students, staff, parents and community members as we continue to provide a personal and exceptional education for every learner."

With Washburn’s hire, DSISD fills the vacancy left by former Superintendent Bruce Gearing, who accepted the superintendent position at Leander ISD in August. Interim Superintendent Nola Wellman temporarily filled the role while the search took place.

Wellman has said she will stay on with the district until Dec. 6 to aid in the transition.
