A six- to eight-week project by the city of Austin to improve Southwest Parkway from MoPac to Mission Oaks Boulevard will begin March 9.
The scheduled work will include surface milling, asphalt overlay and striping, according to a city of Austin news release. Traffic signal loop indicators—which can detect vehicles on the roadway and trigger traffic lights to change—will also be installed in the area.
According to the city, the work will improve safety and pavement quality on Southwest.
Construction on the road will take place weekdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Periodic lane closures could take place throughout construction.
