Dripping Springs ISD staff will be paid as normal despite a districtwide closure Jan. 16 caused by winter weather.

The gist

The DSISD board of trustees passed the resolution unanimously Jan. 29. The compensation will not negatively impact the district’s budget, according to district documents.

The context

DSISD officials announced that classes would be canceled for Jan. 16 due to water leaks from frozen pipes on multiple campuses.

Central Texans experienced an arctic cold front with temperatures below freezing between Jan 14-18. The cold front did not cause any damages comparable to 2023’s Winter Storm Mara, such as downed power lines and tree debris, due to a lack of precipitation.

In case you missed it

The board made a similar decision last year to compensate staff for days missed due to a district closure from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 due to Winter Storm Mara.
