Austin ISD officials are holding a teacher career fair April 15 at the Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, from 9 a.m.-noon to fill 225 vacant teacher positions for the 2023-24 school year.

This year, the starting salary for teachers will be $52,190 teacher, and the stipend amounts increased to $7,000 per year for bilingual classroom teachers and $5,000 per year for special education classroom teachers. Those interested are encouraged to RSVP for the fair.

Officials said attendees do not need to be fully certified to attend the event, and representatives will be available to answer questions about certification or possible waiver exceptions. Those attending should bring at least 10 copies of their current resume to provide to campuses.

Opportunities to interview will be extended to individuals where the campus has a confirmed vacancy, officials said.
