Austin airport officials urge those traveling this Labor Day weekend, beginning Aug. 29 through Sept. 3, to plan ahead and give themselves extra time.

Long story short

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has already experienced half of its top 10 busiest days ever in this year alone. From January to July, ABIA has seen nearly 13 million passengers pass through the Transportation Security Administration—up from last year.As increased air travel indicates a consistently busier airport, ABIA offers a few tips to help your flying experience go smoothly this holiday weekend:
  • Passengers using general TSA screening should arrive at least 2.5 hours before departure for domestic flights and at least 3 hours before departure for international flights.
  • Check TSA packing guidelines to avoid delays.
  • For individuals parking at the airport, real-time parking spot availability and reservations can be found at ABIAParking.com.
  • For those being dropped off, if traffic is getting congested in the departure drop-off location, opt for arrivals.
  • Find a map of the ABIA amenities here.
What else?

The Austin airport also provides several Americans with Disabilities Act-accessibility options and accommodations, including:
  • TSA provides a passenger assistance program for those needing extra help during the TSA screening process.
  • For individuals with mobility assistive devices, a mobility assistance zone is located at arrivals, rather than departures.
  • Mobility Trams are available to transport passengers from garages and terminals to rideshare pickup areas and the rental car facility.
  • ABIA has a Mobility Lounge located by Checkpoint 2 East for passengers with mobility assistance devices or mobility limitations to rest or wait ahead of flights.
  • ABIA also participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, enabling individuals with hidden disabilities to request a lanyard ahead of their trip for extra time and support through the airport.
