Those traveling through the downtown area should expect road closures and traffic lane changes surrounding Austin's 34th annual Pride Parade on Aug. 10.

What you need to know

The Austin Pride Parade and Festival will take place at Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St., Austin. Gates for the festival open at 11 a.m.

The parade, which is free to the public, will start at 8 p.m., beginning at 11th Street and Congress Avenue. The parade will proceed down Congress Avenue and end at the Ann Richards Bridge at Cesar Chavez Street.

Beginning at 1 p.m., road closures associated with the parade will be put in place, with most streets scheduled to be reopened by midnight.


Alternate routes

Northbound and southbound traffic can take Red River Street, I-35, Trinity Street, northbound lanes on Lavaca Street and southbound lanes on Guadalupe Street.

East and west traffic can use 15th Street, Riverside Drive and Barton Springs Road.

The city of Austin Transportation and Public Works Department encourages attendees to use alternative modes of transportation for safe rides to and from the event, including public transit, carpooling or grabbing a rideshare.
