Austin’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management office released a Spanish edition of its Emergency Preparedness Guide on Oct. 4.

The details

The guide includes emergency phone numbers, a list of community resources and information on how to stay safe during natural disasters.

Quote of note

“We are committed to continuing to improve access to emergency information,” HSEM Director Ken Snipes said in a news release. “The Spanish edition of the Neighborhood Preparedness Guide will allow more people in our community to access life-saving emergency preparedness resources.”

Residents can download the updated Emergency Preparedness Guide in English or Spanish here. Physical copies of the guide are available at public libraries and HSEM’s pop-up events. There are two remaining pop-up events this year Oct. 18 and Nov. 15.

City officials are planning on releasing the guide in more languages going forward.
