Austin ISD students will officially welcome summer break after their last day of classes May 23. Here are dates to know, information about student devices and summer camps in the Austin area.

Dates to know

May 24 is a student staff holiday. The district will be closed the following days this summer:
  • May 27
  • May 31
  • Fridays in June
  • The week of July 1-5
After July 5, normal working hours for district staff will resume, and the first day of school will be Aug. 20. The board of trustees will meet during the summer and on June 20 will approve the fiscal year 2024-25 budget, which is projected to have a $59 million shortfall.

Work will begin this summer on multiple bond projects across the district passed by voters in November 2022.

What else?


Campuses districtwide will collect student devices and chargers, except for those issued by the special education department.

Students attending AISD summer programs will have access to devices and chargers on campus. Elementary students and middle school students will receive new devices at the start of next school year.
