From the team behind Jack Allen’s Kitchen and Salt Traders Coastal Cooking, Jack Gilmore and Tom Kamm have opened their new breakfast and brunch concept, Day Maker Half Day Cafe.

The new “unmistakably Austin,” diner offers a laid-back environment just minutes from Zilker Metropolitan Park off MoPac.

“Our intention is in the name,” Kamm said in a statement. “Our goal is to serve really good food, the best coffee you’ve ever had, and provide a level of hospitality that really makes your day.”

The Day Maker is open daily from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. with a walk-up coffee bar as well as full-service cocktail bar.

The menu includes traditional brunch items, like eggs benedict and omelets, in addition to the Breakfast Burger and Big Belly Pastrami Sandwich.


“We want Day Maker to be a place where everyone feels like they’re part of the party,” Gilmore said in a statement. “It’s all about craveable food, delicious drinks, and a fun, welcoming vibe that just makes you feel good. The fun starts now.”
