Two candidates will be on the ballot for the Kyle City Council, District 2 seat in the Nov. 3 election.
Incumbent Melisa Medina and Miguel A. Zuniga will be vying for the seat in the upcoming election. District 2 of Kyle is in the southern portion of the city limits, follows I-35 and covers southeastern neighborhoods, according to the city of Kyle website.

Why are you running for this position?
I’m running for re-election because there is more work to do. During my first 8 months, I’ve fought for fiscal responsibility, transparency, lower water costs, and greater accountability. I want to continue representing residents—not special interests—and ensure Kyle grows responsibly while protecting the people who already call it home.
What are the biggest challenges facing the city of Kyle?
Kyle’s greatest challenges are managing rapid growth while addressing infrastructure, water affordability and security, traffic, and responsible spending. Growth must pay its fair share without placing additional burdens on existing residents. We must also rebuild public trust through transparency, accountability, and sound long-term financial planning.
What would your top priorities be if elected?

How will you balance new development projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?
Growth is inevitable, but how we manage it matters. I will support quality development that contributes to infrastructure, transportation, water, and public safety rather than shifting those costs to existing taxpayers. Development decisions should consider long-term impacts, protect quality of life, and include meaningful input from the residents we represent.

Why are you running for this position?
Because Kyle cannot afford to go backwards. Because proven leadership matters. We need to create jobs, save our schools, and use tax dollars wisely. I care deeply about this community and want to address affordability and housing with thoughtful decisions and a commitment to the people who live here.
What are the biggest challenges facing the city of Kyle?
We must not let short term desires impede our larger strategic goals. We must pay for roads, public safety, water etc. and still have funds for our parks, library, and community events that make our city special. Experience and results driven by leadership are key to our success.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
To finish all roads in bonds, hire city manager, lower taxes, reduce unequal spending. We must focus on attracting businesses that last, provide good salaries and improve the city. Strategic investments and revitalization efforts will help us continue to modernize and let folks’ shop, dine, and enjoy living in Kyle.
How will you balance new development projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?
Thoughtful planning and building proper roads are key to new developments, we need businesses that improve communities. We need to prioritize residents before development and make community-based decisions. Ensure development pays for its own infrastructure and we need to say no to data centers and other large water users.
