A crew of Austin business owners are partnering to create Leona Botanical Café & Bar, bringing together three restaurants, a botanical garden, a pavilion and more on a 5-acre site off Brodie Lane in South Austin.

Meet the owners

The new concept comes from husband-and-wife team Lakana and Justin Trubiana, owners of Thai-cuisine food truck Dee Dee; as well as sisters Reyna and Maritza Vazquez, owners of Mexican-cuisine trucks and restaurants Veracruz All Natural.

Both businesses offer cuisine inspired by deep roots within each culture, with Lakana Trubiana paying homage to the farm she grew up on in Thailand and the Vazquez sisters taking inspiration from their hometown of Veracruz, Mexico.

“Dee Dee and Veracruz first met to discuss this idea back in 2018 when our food trucks were neighbors on East Cesar Chavez, and we have spent the past couple of years working with the city of Sunset Valley to obtain all the necessary approvals for this big ground-up development," Justin Trubiana said in a news release. "I know just how excited Lakana is to finally have a proper kitchen where she will be able to share more of her family’s favorite country-style Thai dishes.”
