The team behind Italian restaurant L’Oca d’Oro opened an all-day pizzeria in East Austin.

Bambino is now open on Springdale Road.

On the menu

Bambino serves a seasonal, rotating menu. Its current appetizer list features smashed marinated cucumber and crispy chickpea salad, roasted beets with pistachio brittle and orange, fried olives, and cheesy garlic bread.

For main dishes, Bambino serves a burger of the day and a variety of “13-ish inch” pies. Bambino’s star items include the Coppa Cabana with house capocollo, orange marmalade, mozzarella and oregano; and the Uncle Frankie with fennel pork sausage, sweet peppers, broccoli rabe and red onion. All of Bambino’s pies are made with naturally fermented dough made from Barton Springs Mill flour.

The restaurant also serves cauliflower nuggets and chicken fingers for kids, and has an outdoor play area.

Quote of note

“Over the past four years, we have devoted countless hours to crafting the perfect pie, playing with fermentation, hydration and temperature over the span of 12 recipe iterations before

opening our doors,” Bambino co-founder and chef Fiore Tedesco said in a news release. “Sure, a Margherita pizza seems basic, but bringing to life a combination of long-fermented

dough, hand-pulled mozzarella, and bright, acidic tomato sauce that feels representative of my experience is a privilege I do not take lightly.”
