Since opening Oct. 30, Trona received more than 1,000 reservation requests for guests wanting to experience the intimate setting while sipping on curated cocktails.

Trona was opened by local Tatanka Guererro and his hospitality management company, Dreamers & Doers Hospitality Group.

A closer look

There are several visually distinct options throughout the 1,200-square-foot space that are available for reservation, including an outdoor area with wooden walls decorated with shou sugi ban Japanese designs, in addition to inside areas inspired by Oaxacan culture.

“After spending several years being inspired by the resiliency and creative spirit of this East Austin community, I’m excited to see this new project finally come to life," Guererro said in a news release. "As someone who works and lives in this area myself, I’m invested in making this a better community, and I really hope Trona is something that my East 12th neighbors are proud of."

What's special about it?

When guests arrive, they make their way down an alleyway to the entrance and must ring the doorbell to be invited inside by a door attendant.
