The giant Peter Pan at Peter Pan Mini Golf will remain a little longer as owners have secured an extension of their property lease for another year.

Originally opened in 1948, the business has remained owned by the same family for 76 years. Husband and wife Julio Massad and Margaret Dismukes Massad—daughter of one of the founding Dismukes brothers—operate the miniature golf mainstay today.

Peter Pan Mini Golf is located on property owned by a state agency. It is hoped that Peter Pan’s owners will be able to negotiate a more long-term, multiyear lease agreement in the future as the agency is in the midst of new leadership, Julio Masad said.

The business is embellished with over a dozen cartoon structures, almost all of which were built by the original Dismukes. Tributes to Peter Pan, such as Tinker Bell and Captain Hook, as well as nods to Austin, including the Capitol building, Pennybacker Bridge and a giant taco sculpture, can be found throughout the mini-golf club.
